War So what's that for? Is it saving a nation From humiliation? A conquerers cosh?
Frankly, that's bosh And possibly tosh It simply won't wash
It's always power So someone else can have their finest hour And in years to come We can honour the brave The ones we couldn't save
And wave our nation's flag While solemn tongues wag About never again They don't have to explain Because it's quite plain
Despite all the pain And the dying in vain There is little to gain From conjuring tricks And political legerdemain
The media hype That appeals to the type Who thinks they should fight For what might be right
Before they all go We should let them know. Have a word in each ear As they disappear Into glory and fear.
It's quite clear That whatever we ended up fighting for It was never the reason they gave for the war!
