Running from them was the hardest feat. It was hard to believe that no one on the street could see me, a 18-year-old girl, running from 4 middle age adults, but I knew they couldn’t.
The power was too strong for them to understand, that I knew.
Anyway, I was running around this park at midnight. There were so many blooming flowers and tall trees, pleasing to look at, but better to hide behind.
I turned the corner quickly, and kept running. This time I thought I would lose them. If I could get away from them for just a few minutes at most, I could get out of here.
The park speakers were blaring old music. First, they played Rocket Man, then they played Radioactive. Good music to run to in my opinion.
I lost them. I hadn’t seen them on my trail for 5 minutes now. So, I crept behind a tree to try to get out of here.
I sat on the ground and dug my short nails into the dirt.
I squeezed my eyes shut.
I tried t clear my mind.
I breathed slowly.
One breath in, another out.
1. 2. 1. 2.
Slowly I heard the crackling begin. I wanted to open my eyes and see, but I knew I had to focus. Just saying this threw me off of clearing my mind.
1. 2. 1. 2.
I heard footsteps.
They got closer and closer.
I’m almost there….
I couldn’t wait.
The steps got closer and closer. The beating in my chest was so loud I could hear someone beating on a door in my ears.
