I met her at a festival, between booths of finery and decadent flavors

The Festival

I met her at a festival

Between booths of finery and decadent flavors

That all had one thing in common

This time, it was chocolate

The creamy white of her dyed hair

Next to the dark of her eyes

A kick of spice and a hint of lemon

Or lavender with sea salt and caramel

She had drawn on war paint

With dark chocolate

Smeared across her cheeks

None of the flavors could compare

To lips that seemed so sweet

We never said a word,

But I swear she made me feel complete

I turned and she was gone again

As quickly as she'd crossed my path

I go to that chocolate festival every year

In hopes that I might see her again
