Will we lose control?

Dancing on Thin Ice

by Esther Jones

Between us and the depths

Between us and the depths That lie beneath us

Is only a thin sheet of ice,

Is only a thin sheet of ice, And spring is in the air.

We spin around each other,

Almost touching;

Skating ‘round the edges;

Dancing on thin ice.

If we fall in, will we drown?

If we fall in, will we drown? Will we lose control?

Not quite holding hands,

Our eyes not meeting;

We pretend we do not see

The dark, uncharted deeps.

If we fall in, will we drown?

If we fall in, will we drown? Will we lose control?

We’ll have to depend upon each other

For we can’t survive alone.
