"I am so glad you let me know about this whole misunderstanding... I haven't been able to stop thinking about her all this time" Mr. Bingley confessed to his best friend, as they stood outside the Bennet home.
It had been Mr. Darcy who had warned Mr. Bingley against pursuing a relationship with Jane Bennet, believing she was too cold and her family too complicated.
Now, he knew his first impression had been wrong, and owed it to his best friend to let him know his feelings for the fair woman were indeed reciprocated.
"Do you believe she'll still want to marry me, after everything I did? I ignored her so cruelly, Fitzwilliam!"
"I have it on very reliable authority that she still loves you, Charles"
"She does?" Charles Bingley's smile was bright and earnest, and Mr. Darcy could not help but smile himself.
"She does indeed. You two will make a handsome couple, I'll be happy to be a guest at your wedding"
"Guest? You'll be my best man!"
Mr. Darcy looked slightly startled but nodded immediately.
"It'll be my pleasure"
"Well, I've avoided this moment enough. There is nothing left to do but knock and hope she'll say yes, right?"
Mr. Darcy chuckled lightly at his friend's anxiety.
"She'll say yes, Charles. I don't have any doubt about it"
