TWOT competition. Prompt-You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

The World Behind My Eyes

I look at you I am disgusted But my opinion Should not be trusted

For I am rotten Inside and out I project onto you Without a doubt

I yearn for those That carry your name To live together And bury the blame

Oh what a shame I cannot see The boiling conflict Raging in me

Wishing for one Not to be judged By their exteriors Right away smudged

Yet inside it's dark And inside it’s clear That every day is Judgment day in here

You are beautiful I am not This pains me Should it not?

If I could see The beauty in me Then maybe just maybe I would cherish me

Sadly I can't So here I stand Gazing at you Your form so grand

But maybe someday Under skies real blue Will I see me As I see you

Thanks for reading! This is my first time writing a poem with a specific format, rhyming, etc. so feel free to critique or comment. I am always looking to improve my writing. See ya! 999
