One day, as I'm scrolling through my Instagram feed, I notice that an 8/10 has just posted a photo. Naturally, I like the photo and gawk at it for several minutes.

After snapping out of my trance, I check the comments for some reason. I see the usual stuff: guys (all of which are infinitely more attractive than me) talking about how hot she is.

I'm getting bored of reading the same generic compliment over and over again when suddenly, I spot it. A girl commented, "Oh, my god! You're so pretty". The OP replied, "No you are".

Curious, I click on this girls profile. Based on her profile picture, she's a solid 9/10. Unfortunately, her account is private. I sigh and send her a follow request, not expecting to be accepted.

After a few minutes, I get an Instagram notification on my phone.

My eyes bulge.

My knees weaken.

Tears of joy start streaming down my face, and I collapse on my living room floor.

My mom looks at me like I'm crazy, but I don't care.

I'm accepted.

I proceed to go through all of her photos. I read every caption, and see who she's following. I see what artists she's into, what school she goes to, and who her friends are.

After a while, I feel like I know this girl. Needless to say, I'm in love.

Unfortunately, after reading a few comments on her posts, I realize that I'm not the only guy who's into her.

I go through their profiles. I see that they're all in football, conventionally attractive, and aren't pieces of human garbage like me.

My self-esteem plummets.

My knees weaken.

My eyes begin to water.

I collapse on my living room floor.

My mom doesn't even bother looking at me this time.

She just sighs, gets up from the couch, and walks into the kitchen.

I can feel her disappointed from the floor.

As I lay there crying, I close my eyes and try imagining going on a date with this girl.

I cry harder because even in my head I suck at talking to girls.

Suddenly, my whining is interrupted by an Instagram notification.

A 10/10 has just posted a photo. Naturally, I like the photo and gawk at it for several minutes.
