I was so caught off guard from hearing your voice again that after the beep all that came from my mouth was silence.
I think it was that happy little laugh of yours when the recording started that really got me.
Part of me wanted to speak; to cry out: "Come back!"
But I knew it'd be useless. You wouldn't come back. You couldn't. The laughter of others led to your silence, and yours to mine.
I'm sorry I couldn't leave all of this on your machine, but I don't think I'll be calling back. With you gone, I've no message to leave.
