I dropped my penny into the well. I thought it would make my wish come true. I heard the splash at the bottom, and for a moment I was satisfied.
I shambled back through a fog, and I felt a weight drop off my shoulders. Sure enough my problem was gone. For days I was a happy man. The well had done the trick.
