I work for a theater which recently changed its policy on what is allowed into the theater. The policy now is: "No backpacks or other large bags, all other bags are checked by staff.
" That is posted in prominent places in the theater.
Note that the search procedure is the customer opening the bag and moving stuff around, the staff is not allowed to touch, even with permission from said customer.
I was working as a door person (ticket taker) on the first day of the new rules. Most people had no problem with me searching their bags, but one couple had a serious qualm.
When I notified them of the new rules, they refused to have their bag searched.
I told them I could not let them into the theater and they left spouting stuff about how we couldn't do that because it was america.
