I was 14 years old, my parents were gone for the weekend and my brother was at a friend’s house. Being home alone isn’t really what I’d call fun or enjoyable.
But one afternoon I was watching tv in the living room, I got up to go to the bathroom. But as I was passing the front door,
I was stopped by the jiggling of the doorknob. I watched it jiggle for a good 30 seconds before I went over to look through the peephole.
It was an older man, maybe in his 40’s in a black hoodie, with a boring look on his face, just looking at the doorknob. I decided to call my neighbor Lake to come out before I opened the door.
Lake walked onto my porch as did I. The man told us he was lost and needed directions somewhere.
We clearly didn’t believe him but we told him where he could find wherever he was going. The man walked down the street and out of sight.
After that incident I decided to get out of the house for a bit, so I headed to the nearby gas station to grab some snacks. It took about two hours to go there and back to the house.
I was surprised at how dark it was when I got back, but when I could see my house, I noticed the front door was wide open, and my dog was barking.
Once again, I called Lake over to help me check it out. We couldn’t find anything, so we simply called the police to see what they could find.
I was already still shaken up over that random guy, and I knew he was back. I waited in my room for the police to show up and Lake waited downstairs.
When they got there, the searched the entire house, top to bottom.
And when they came out, I was terrified….
They came out with an older man, with a black hoodie escorting him to a police car in handcuffs. The police had told me the man was hiding under a bed in the upstairs bedroom.
I was the only one who had a bedroom upstairs. What’s even more chilling is what the policeman asked the man.
“Why were you hiding in this house?” “I’ve been planning this for 4 days now” the man said. “Plan what exactly?” “I was going to strike tonight, he said”
