In a far away city stood the beautiful statue of a happy prince.
He was a prince when he was alive. Being a prince he never knew sorrow and suffering. So, the courtiers called him 'The Happy Prince'.
On his death the citizens made a statue of him with precious jewels and gold.
But now as a statue he could see the misery of his people. He saw the miserable life they were in.
Then a swallow flew by to take rest under his feet.
With the help of the swallow he was able to distribute the jewels on him to the needy people.
But the swallow stayed too long and died due to cold winter at the feet of the prince.
Due to his endless love for the bird, the lead heart of the prince (statue) broke into pieces.
The town officials removed the shabby looking statue and threw the lead heart with the dead swallow.
When the god sent his angels to get the precious things on earth, they brought back the lead heart of the prince and dead swallow.
