A poem on someone cool.

You’re so cool. You’re collected. And you’ve collected Each of my kind words and soft glances.

You’ve kept them So nonchalantly. Are you not haunted By my feelings?

By my uncomfortable questions Respectful silence compassionate whispers Offers of guidance

Or my nervous admissions Of growing fondness. You seem unaffected By my kindness And return it From a distance.

You’re so distant And it’s so cool Like your nicotine breath And your slow, calm heart With my head on your chest

You’re cool with your manners When you choose to mind them. You’re mindless and mindful And aimless with your arrows

But each one is a bulls eyes And I am your bull Blinded by emotion Betrayed by your bow

I am hot headed, heavy handed My affections only strengthened I offer warmth and admiration Mindless infatuation.

My fever is rising to a pitch It only aids in my delusion And you’re so cool, it’s confusing, Elevates me to delirium.

I alight like a lantern Burning in the tension. I float up— I leave you grounded You’re so cool. You do not notice.
