Just a Dance

You asked if I had a date to the dance.

I said no and asked you the same.

you said no.

then you said, "do you wanna go with me? 'cause I don't wanna go alone..."

I didn't understand just then, I thought that you had meant as friends.

but secretly deep down I hoped, that you meant something else.

but then you asked, can it be a date?

I said yes, and you smiled so wide, it made me smile back until my cheeks started to hurt

a simple "see you there " made me smile, like the idiot I am.

and now, I actually look forward to this dance.
