I wasn't intending to post this at all. My next post was supposed to be a story. But then, it would be injustice, if I don't write this.
NEWS FLASH: 59 CHINESE APPS BANNED IN INDIA. SCARCITY OF CHINESE ELECTRONICS IN THE MARKETS.
CORONA VIRUS RAPIDLY SPREADING ACROSS THE WORLD AND THE WORLD GOVERNMENTS, REQUEST ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST CHINA.
First of all, if indeed Corona virus was developed as a biological weapon by the Chinese government, the citizens of China, in no way, would have knowledge about it.
They would be as innocent as we are. But when the allegations come, whole of China, including the common people are considered guilty.
Next, CHINA CROSSES BORDER RAISING WAR CRYS. Now this an extremely different scenario. The truth: Well, the citizens of either countries, India and China, truly doesn't know what happened.
Indian Govt. says, "China opened fire and we gave them a tough retaliation." But the Chinese officials say, "India opened fire and we gave them a tough retaliation."
Poor soldiers, it is their lives paid as the price for the ego clashes of two authorities. And we, the citizens? We are being fooled again and again, because we let ourselves be.
Now, before we do anything, it is only apt that we think about its consequences. That is exactly what world leaders of today, almost never do.
Boycotting China, would affect mainly two communities, The Chinese Producers and The Indian Consumers. The first group would loose a large market and their profits would come crashing down.
And since China is a country that supports small-scale industries, it would be these people, commoners who are the worst hit. The corporates? Well, for sure, they will be affected.
But since their markets are spread over a wide spectrum, their losses would minimal compared to the cottage industries.
Then comes the Indian consumers, most of them being, the lower and middle classes. They look for quality products at affordable prices. Such requirements are fulfilled only by Chinese products.
As a result, their standard of living, drops down.
I support the Swadeshi movement. In fact, I am of the opinion that every country should be self-dependent.
The stand of self-dependency, must be taken, not only by the consumers, but must also be backed by the respective governments. Only then can it succeed. History justifies me.
Gandhiji's Boycott British movement failed only because Khadi and other Indian goods and institutions, came at a high price. The movement had supporters far and wide.
But due to the failure in providing affordable alternative services, people were left with no choice, but to revert back to foreign goods.
Any action that we take, is not going to affect the leaders, the officials, for whom it was intended. Common citizens are the only ones to be affected.
I am neither an economist nor a political activist; just a high schooler. It is my humble request, do not be anyone's puppet. Think and judge rationally. And do not stereotype or spread hatred against anyone.
To love a country- that is PATRIOTISM. To love one's country, while spreading hatred against the others- that is NATIONALISM. In order to love something, it is not necessary that you must hate the other. Patriotism is a boon, Nationalism- a bane.
I am a PATRIOT. Who are you?
