A poem about grief and letting go the ones you love the most.

Goodbye

The day I saw you I knew, You were halfway there. The day I saw you, I knew you were smiling at me, from somewhere else. While laying there, the pain I felt was not caused by the absence of that part of your soul.

It was caused by the knowledge of the part of you that was still here. So today, you found your way to the light. You found a way out of that prison of yours, where you stayed waiting for all of us to visit you. You found your way to freedom, the freedom you have long been asking for.

So today, I cry. But I smile, with thoughts of you now together with the ones you miss the most. Today are my final and last goodbyes to you.
