Anxiety.

When the Ice Comes

Feverish ice – It starts in the mind Penetrates the brain Slows it down.

All I see and all I hear Is horrid panic Paranoia

It seeps into my blood Under my skin Into my heart. My chest aches.

A dark cloud Settles over my every thought. Everything – Twisted and gnarled.

I fear catastrophe with every breath and every step.

Doom. Despair. Fear.

A light – small, a sliver Crawls through the veil of dark And sings sweetly, “it will succumb to time.”

Angry claws grapple it, drag it down and kill it.

“Foolish child. Will it really?”
