BOYS DON'T CRY Either side of me – ma and she I hold them tight … I want to fight I want to scream and shout I want to break out
BOYS DON'T CRY

Either side of me – ma and she

I hold them tight … I want to fight

I want to scream and shout

I want to break out

A young boy's pain - the societal pressure of being the 'bread winner/ care taker'. How much choice does he really have? He too is scared, he too is confused but he has to be the 'tough' specie.

This poem is dedicated to all those 'young heros' who have been the strength of their families

BOYS DON'T CRY Either side of me – ma and she I hold them tight … I want to fight I want to scream and shout I want to break out

But they ask me to be strong – a pillar to lean on Be their hope, a guiding beam Be like my dad and help them dream

But the burning pyre rages a fire Confusion and fear make me tire And my bloodshot eyes can only lie 'Cz I am a boy and boys don’t cry

I cried only once when I was born They told me I was destined to be strong So I had no place for fear, pain and dark I fell and bled but could not have a mark

While she played house and dolls Dad taught me how to mend the walls I wanted to snuggle and get Ma’s love But then I had a different commandment from above

I was tired of falling but I had to try I was choked but just could not cry 'Cz I am a boy and boyz don’t cry

The shelter had to be mended The fence had to be high The kitchen had to be full And her wardrobe bright

Dad alone could not do it all So he looked upon to assist And I bade bye to the familiar I went to buy the wishlist

An unknown place an unknown fear Misty challenges that I had to clear I longed for home I longed to love I longed to be a child but I had to be tough

Couldn't show my heartache, but could sure lie Even when my heart was heavy, I pretended to fly ‘Cz I am boy and boys don’t cry
