A poem recounting the age old battle between the knight and the dragon.

Fateful Slumber

The air was warm.

He could tell,

A fire burned within.

He tried

To enter carefully,

But the beast

Was all too clever.

It knew

that he was coming.

It knew

that he was here.

First came the smoke.

Then came the rush,

The Dragon!

Towards the mouth of the cave.

And the bursting flame.

The knight leaped back,

Sword Unsheathed.

He charged.

They met.

Sword and claw,

Tooth and blade,

Shield and flames,

They fought

till their blood ran cold

till they each fell down.

To sleep until forever.

Eyes closed into eternity,

Into a fateful slumber.
