People often forget the beauty of the small details in an ornament. A stroke of red and green, the sliver of a baby snake. Or perhaps there is white snow, dotted with paint, on the fragile ornament.
And the beauty of an ornament is not only what you can see.
Imagine the history of the ornament, imagine how many hands it has been cradled in, with love and aroma of the christmas tree.
Sometimes, when I think of things like this, I feel jealous of the ornament.
Imagine the safety and consistency in it's world, always tucked away with similar decorations, only coming out once a year, before returning to its place.
It would be quite a peaceful life, I think. Easy, uncomplicated. The simplicity to an ornament is quite stunning.
