A ballad poem from school that I forgot about -3-

Dancing in the Dark

Clock ticking away the hours of the night

Dancing under the twinkles of the stars with you in my sight

Twirling and swirling, a burning sensation in our feet

Spinning you around to our imaginary orchestra's beat

Step by step, I hold you close

Toe by toe, you draw me near

Swirling and twirling, your dress brushes my clothes

Smiling and giggling, we laugh until we tear

Time standing still when we stop to take a break

Staring into the skies, a chilly night breeze makes you shake

My jacket upon your bare shoulders, I give you a grin

Knowing that when we meet again, we'll dance as if the world has gone still

Step by step, I hold you close

Toe by toe, you draw me near

Swirling and twirling, your dress brushes my clothes

Smiling and giggling, we laugh until we tear

As the night draws to an end

I must say goodbye to you, my "more-than-friends" friend

I bid you farewell and take you home under the stars

Knowing the days when we can be together again won't be far

Step by step, I hold you close

Toe by toe, you draw me near

Swirling and twirling, your dress brushes my clothes

Smiling and giggling, we laugh until we tear
