A girl trying to escape her past and family. A boy wanting to be noticed by his family and co-workers. When these two teenagers come together to try and save a father, will they succeed or fail miserably and ruin the relationship they once had that just started healing?

Chapter 1: The Coffee Shop She stared at her favorite drink, a caramel frappe with an extra shot of espresso. “Hey, I didn’t order this.” She shouted at the waiter walking away not even acknowledging the girl as she sat her book down next to her un eaten chocolate chip cookie.

It was a romance, I always fall for the sappy cliche love stories with the hot shirtless guy on the front holding the sexy lady. “True, but I did.” The familiar spine tingl voice reached her ears before he sat down across from her.

“Hello again Sam. It's nice to see you, been awhile.” The teen said grabbing the menu, not even bothering to make eye contact. After she got over herself she got a chance to actually look at the person, a boy no older than her, a couple inches shorter though. A mop of hair, redder than blood lying on his head.

A mop of hair, redder than blood lying on his head.Compared to her black curly hair that just would not lie down. His eyes reminded her of her own bright blue eyes she .

Freckles covered his face, and the visible skin she saw had freckles too, and one beauty mark on his right cheek. A Green Day hoodie on with jeans. All in all he looked cute. Then she realized who it was, buried under layers of memories.

“Matt, wish I could say the same, but it would be a lie.” She said through gritted teeth wondering if the drink is poison. “Last time I checked Sam you didn’t have a problem with lying, I mean it was in the job description.

And for a 17 year old your surprisingly good.” Matt said waving the waiter over with his hand still looking over the menu. “Good mor-” the waiter, Nathan, was cut off by the rude boy infront of her. ”

“Yeah yeah, I want a venti, half-whole milk, one quarter 1%, one quarter nonfat, extra hot, split quad shots, no foam latte, with whip, 2 packets of splenda, 1 sugar, a touch of vanilla syrup and 3 short sprinkles of cinnamon. Got that? And make it snappy!”

Matt said smirking, Sam and a few others around the coffee shop snickered. Nathan just stood mouth a gape just staring at Matt. All of a sudden Matt just smiled that famous childlike grin that makes everyone want to smile and said

“Just kidding about the drink. I’ll just take a blueberry scone and a Americano.” Nathan just smiled and walked away. As soon as he was out of ear shot Matt’s smiled dropped like a sack of bricks.

“We need you.” Matt shot out of his mouth so fast Sam barely understood what he said. Just as she understood what he said she started to smirk than snickering, and she ended up laughing . She was too busy laughing she didn’t notice Matt blushing like an anime character.

“W-w-wwell. . . we don’t need you, it's just that commander is dying.” Matt stammered out. As soon as that sentence was out quickly put a stop to the laughter.

“WHAT HAPPENED!” Sam basically screamed at the top of her lungs, jumping out of the booth and grabbing the collar of his shirt and pulling him out of his side and holding him a good 2 inches up of the ground.

“WHAT HAPPENED!” Sam basically screamed at the top of her lungs, jumping out of the booth and grabbing the collar of his shirt and pulling him out of his side and holding him a good 2 inches up of the ground.

“If you did something to him I swear on everything hol-” Nathan and his oh so good timing came back and delivered Matt’s order.

“Umm. . . Is there a problem here?” Nathan said looking as concerned and uncomfortable as a puppy when its owner is on the floor. “Everything is Okay” Matt said looking like he anticipated this.

“Okay? You just said my father is dying!” Sam said squeezing her fists. “I know how to save him.” Matt said ducking his head like she was about to deck him. Sam’s world stopped she dropped him and stared into the distance for a few moments, by this time Nathan shuffled away too uncomfortable to stand there any longer.

When Matt landed he stumbled trying to get his balance, but failing and falling on his butt. “You can sav-” she was cut of by matt. “Yes but, we can’t just stand here forever, so are you comn’?.” He didn’t bother waiting for an answer, he dug in his hoodie and threw a twenty on the table.

“Yo, Nathan, keep the change.” Matt took off out of the shop and onto the streets of Denmark, Sam right at his heels. They could faintly hear there waiter yelling, “This isn’t even enough!” somewhere behind them but they didn’t pay it any mind.
