This is a poem about a confrontation I had with someone I love dearly and how I felt at the end.

Your Words

There is a firmness in my chest,

A wrenching, sickening, sadness.

My breath can not be found.

Your words still ring in my ear,

"You're a disappointment, sick, mental."

You're happy and yet, I sit here.

Sad, alone, "diseased".

Day after day I try to please.

Those words still ring in my ear,

"You're a disappointment, sick, mental."

Lying is not a hobby, but

honesty is not an answer.

Wearing stripes and chains,

your words still ring in my ear,

"You're a disappointment, sick, mental."

To those you love and who love you,

One expects support.

Instead hated, judged, ignored.

Those words still ring in my ear,

"You're a disappointment, sick, mental."

Thoughts fill this head,

my own opinions I do have.

From yours these may differ.

Your words still ring in my ear,

"a disappointment, sick, mental."

Hate fills in my chest,

Not for you. No, not for you.

For the reflection I see in the mirror.

Those words still ring in my ear,

"You're a disappointment, sick, mental."

"Stand strong!", I say.

Alone, my thoughts wander.

Without support, I dwindle into nothing.

Your words still ring in my ear,

"a disappointment, sick, mental."
