Midnight's class was finally wrapped up by the chiming of the lunch bell. You continued scribbling in your book until most of your classmates had already cleared out for lunch. It was easier to just wait for them to leave, so no one would ask questions about what you were doing every lunch break.
When the coast was clear, you packed your books up and exited the classroom, making your way down the hallway and towards Gym Gamma. Your mind was deep in thought about the moves and techniques you wanted to work on today though your focus was quickly broken with a pink hand tapping on your shoulder.
"Ah- [Y/N]! Did you seriously not hear me calling you?" Ashido seemed frustrated but relieved to finally have your attention. "Oh, sorry. What is it?" You replied, a little frazzled and confused as to why she was still here.
"She was asking if you wanted to join us for lunch." Yaoyorozu approached you from behind Ashido and you noticed the group of girls from your class standing there smiling at you. You had thought they were already gone - did they wait for you? Why?
"That's- I'm sorry. I have something to do..." Your eyes met your feet as you felt somewhat ashamed and regretful for your rejection, but you had work to do. You needed to train every lunchtime more than you needed to socialize. After all, that's not the reason you came to UA.
You were more determined than ever to make sure your parents would be watching you from above and see a daughter they could be proud of - one who saved people, just as they had done before.
The girls looked a little disappointed but were on their merry way before long, and you continued strolling through the hallways about to make the next turn when you crashed into a sturdy figure.
"Watch where you're going, nerd!" Ugh...
You recognized that growling voice. His angry face disappeared from your sight as you dodged past him and walked on forward. "Oi!" He yelled at you, chasing along behind. "Listen when someone talks to you!"
"Whatever..." His frustration only increased with your nonchalant response. You had no intention of engaging in conversation with him, though you were slightly curious what he was doing here. The cafeteria was in the opposite direction and you had thought everyone had already left in that direction.
"Tch! We need to talk!" He continued following as you picked up your pace. You continued ignoring him as you made your break for the external doors leading to your freedom. The sun beamed down on you as you quickly pushed through the doors and paced towards the gym.
"Dammit!" Bakugo had still been following you and was more furious than ever. He latched onto your wrist and dragged you off to the park, in the opposite direction to the gym. "Hey! What are you-?" You yelled at him as he tugged you along behind himself.
"Shut up! Just come with me!" He continued walking; eyes forward the whole way until you had reached a desolate spot. "You!" He raised his hands as he turned around to face you, making you flinch and close your eyes. You felt his warm hands on your shoulders as he pulled himself closer to you.
Your eyes flickered open, curiosity getting the better of you. You observed him standing there, eyes fixated on yours. "Have you even been sleeping lately? You look even worse than before!" His voice was stern but remained at a normal volume.
"It's none of your business." You removed his hands from your shoulders and turned on your heel, ready to walk off. "Where the hell are you going? We needa talk!" Before you had gotten far, his strong arms were wrapped around your upper body and he was pulling you back into himself.
"Let go of me Bakugo!" Your cheeks flushed red as you decreased the density of your upper body and maneuvered away from the boy. He raised his arms slowly as if to offer a heralding of peace. "Okay, okay...just- just talk to me." His soft voice and kind gesture had surprised you. You remained silent, frustration taking over you again.
Your eyes darted to the ground as you swung your head away from him, remaining silent. "Fine...if you won't talk then just listen! You'll burn out at this rate, so stop wasting time when you're clearly not improving, and just let me train you instead!"
His words escaped with frustration and slight anger in his voice, as he too averted his gaze away. You observed his reaction and noticed the slight blush on his face. He almost looked...cute? You instinctively took a step forward, before Bakugo snapped himself back to normal and continued.
"Don't get the wrong idea or anything. I just have to beat you when you're at your best! And you're not getting better on your own so..." His argument started out strong and dipped towards the end as he trailed off, blush increasing.
"Haha!" You couldn't help but release your serious expression and break out in laughter at his response. He looked so cute it was almost strange - certainly out of character for the explosive, hot-headed egomaniac you knew him as.
"What's with that?" You wrapped up your laughter as you wiped a little tear from your eye. "Shut the hell up ya dense nerd!" His cute blush was replaced with fiery rage. "Ya want my help or not!" He yelled even louder as you chuckled slightly.
After a moment of letting him stress in anger, you finally responded. "Fine...but you better make it worth my while!" You smirked as you turned once again and marched off.
