From cozy mystery and legal thriller to police procedural and modern PI, crime fiction has a long list of sub-genres for writers to choose from. This is essentially a good thing since it gives your imagination the opportunity to run wild, however if you are the kind of person who gets overwhelmed when presented with too many options you might be in trouble.

Enter writing prompts. 

Whether it is a paragraph, short sentence, or phrase, an effective writer should be able to help a writer zone in a topic he or she is most interested in, so that he or she would not get distracted or distracted.

  • His greatest stealth was his human stealth as he went around a steady stream of young female targets, seducing them before making off with millions of dollars in jewelry and cash.
  • His span of work was about to come to a stop because he had finally been put away for filicide, which meant that he was going to be in prison for life.
  • He had trained his body to last long enough to escape from a maximum security prison.
  • She wore the blood of her victims like paint and makeup.
  • Here we have a man who masterminded every kidnapping and murder, from a sophisticated computer fortress, so that there would be no more physical evidence, or outside corroboration, for any police or detective to find. However, he made one tiny mistake that caught him out.

  • If you have ever visited this city or have ever heard any of the stories and legends that swirl around within the city limits, you may never want to visit. If you do, know to bring an umbrella to fend off the mosquitoes that inhabit the city.
