Don’t know where to get any ideas for a scary story? If so, maybe you should follow a piece of writing advice from the “king of horror” to get inspired. Stephen King wrote on his website that he gets inspiration everywhere. He said that when coming up with a story he usually puts together two things that pique his interest and look at them in an interesting way. Then, he asks himself ‘What if ’ questions.

Most of the inspiration behind his novels were, in fact, the most mundane things. According to an article by WhatCulture, King came up with the story of IT while he was walking across a bridge while wearing cowboy boots. On the other hand, Misery was inspired by the massive backlash he got for his novel, The Eyes Of A Dragon, and the short story The Man Who Liked Dickens by Evelyn Waugh.
