As a writer, you’ve probably listened to music while working many times. You may have used lo-fi as background noise while revising a tedious manuscript late at night, or tuned in to your favorite songs during writing breaks. But, have ever considered using it as inspiration for your next story? 

Music and musical instruments would actually make a great addition to stories because they, particularly the piano, can evoke strong emotions. Take Nicholas Sparks’s The Last Song, for instance. It is a tearjerker that follows Ronnie Miller during the summer when she is sent to stay with her estranged father. In this novel, Ronnie and her father shared a common love for piano music which allowed them to reconnect and come to terms with what may happen in their future.
