As a writer, you’ve probably found libraries to be magical places because they can transport you to different worlds through the books in their care and allow you to discover new topics and ideas.

But, have you ever considered using them as inspiration for a story? If not, you should reconsider, as this place has plenty of potential for any genre. Fantasy books like The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman and The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami are some well-known books about libraries.

Another book inspired by a library is Kasie West’s By Your Side—a young adult novel about teenagers who got locked inside a library. In West’s Goodreads account, she said she was inspired to write this book after a signing event in Provo Library, Utah. According to her, the library was empty as she and her friend were leaving, and they wondered how it would feel to be trapped there.
