About Zena Okoroafor:
I am an author and owner of a publishing company – Z. Oko Literary Estate Ltd. I started writing when I was a child, filling up whole notebooks with stories. I found it fascinating to be able to use my imagination this way. I have also been a very avid reader my whole life. As for the fictional writing I had to give it up when I left school and got a job. Years down the line I found myself working for Publications and reignited my passion for writing again. I took a leap of faith and left that role so I could pursue my writing dream. I wrote my first book – The Dream Keepers, and luckily found a publisher who would publish my work. Already having a background in publishing and picking up useful hints and tips along the way I decided to open my own publishing company so I could sign other writers too. To be able to share inspirational stories with the world is a must.

How And When Did You Get Started Writing?
I remember my Mum reading Cinderella to me when I was young. It’s always been my favourite. After that I started writing my own stories. I recall thinking Prince Charming can have many guises and show up in our lives in many different ways, whether it be a love for something or someone.
What Does Literary Success Look Like To You?
Signing incredible writers to my publishing company and sharing their inspiration with the world.
What Actionable Tips And Tricks Do You Have For New Writers That They Can Apply Now On Their Journey As Budding Writers?
Just write! You can edit it afterwards. Ideas can come to you at the funniest of times so keep a small notepad and pen on you, or if you prefer type or record it on your phone. You may walk past a group of people having a conversation and it could spark a whole story you never knew you had in you. Inspiration is everywhere. You just need to be aware of it. Writers never stop working in this way. It’s habitual.
What Are Common Traps For Aspiring Writers?
Don’t give up. The reason you have that idea for a book is because you have the power to create it. Art has no boundaries. Just because someone doesn’t like it doesn’t mean that no one else will. Have faith in the unknown, you never know where it will take you.
If You Could Tell Your Younger Writing Self Anything, What Would It Be?
Life in itself is a story and the experience you gain from it will help you on your course.
What Are Your Favorite Books? Fiction And/ Or Non-Fiction?
The Bhagavad Gita will always be my favourite book. I’ll carry it with me for life.
Anything You’d Like To Plug?
My next book The Power of You is due for release in the next few weeks. Here is the synopsis:
To harness the true power of manifestation you must understand the deeper power behind it. By aligning yourself with the powerful force that exists within you, through you, and all around you, you can become a co-creator of your reality.
Through simple practices you can bring harmony, love, joy, abundance and your true desires into your experience.
Your thought processes and how they affect and eventually imprint onto the subconscious mind can either hinder you or work wonderfully for you.
This book will not only tell you where you may be going wrong, but it will show you the steps to take in order to rectify and remedy them so you may witness all of the greatness that you can offer to life.
Having a true awareness of the world you really live in is the key. By bringing this awareness into your life you can truly live by the power of you.
