Justify

Inspired by and taken from: The Brothers Karamazov – Dostoevsky The Great Divorce – C.S. Lewis Hurricane – 30 Seconds to Mars Revelation 7:1

We speak of animals like pretentious fools labeling them as primal beasts; savage, wild, unrestrained.

With such images we bestow upon those who stand condemned before us heads mercifully wrapped in sacks, waiting patiently for their souls to be ripped from their bodies.

But we have in fact wronged the animals as much as we have misstated our comparison to them.

A tiger may gnaw and tear at its prey with ferocity and brutality but no animal could ever be so cruel as a man; so artfully, so artistically cruel.

No animal could be as depraved as us.

No animal could be as depraved as us. No animal could take pleasure and delight in the death of their own.

No animal could be as depraved as us. No animal could take pleasure and delight in the death of their own. No animal could rationalize the torturing and humiliation of their own offspring.

No animal could be as depraved as us. No animal could take pleasure and delight in the death of their own. No animal could rationalize the torturing and humiliation of their own offspring. No, it is not out of bad mice or fleas that you make demons, but out of archangels.

So tell me

Would you kill to save a life?

Would you kill to save a life? Tell me, would you kill to prove that you are right?

Would you kill to save a life? Tell me, would you kill to prove that you are right? Tell me, while he holds your gored child in his clenched fist, where is your God?

This hurricane envelopes us with four winds of bloody men and bloodied children.

This hurricane envelopes us with four winds of bloody men and bloodied children. It scatters the souls of the young who are punished and suffered

This hurricane envelopes us with four winds of bloody men and bloodied children. It scatters the souls of the young who are punished and suffered for the sins of their fathers and their selfish desires to become like gods.

So we scream for the blood of these men, hurling words like "justice".

So we scream for the blood of these men, hurling words like "justice". Words like decayed fruit which soil and mar the bodies of the damned

So we scream for the blood of these men, hurling words like "justice". Words like decayed fruit which soil and mar the bodies of the damned but leaving also sour and sticky juices on the hands of self-righteous charlatans.

Realize that we, who have been fighting against monsters, have imperceptibly become ones ourselves.

Who would concede to be the architect of human destiny

Who would concede to be the architect of human destiny whose end goal is the happiness of all, allowing peace and rest at last,

Who would concede to be the architect of human destiny whose end goal is the happiness of all, allowing peace and rest at last, but in doing so must inevitably and unavoidably torture just one tiny creature-

Who would concede to be the architect of human destiny whose end goal is the happiness of all, allowing peace and rest at last, but in doing so must inevitably and unavoidably torture just one tiny creature- the child beating their breast with their little fist- and raise the edifice on the foundation of unrequited tears?
