Healthcare co-op placement—-

To a future co-op student

You ask me if the past three months have worth, If I have seen what no one here has found: The start of life! The stop of pain, the heart We see in shows and read and dream in turn.

Dear student, just like me, that’s not what I Have had the honour to bear witness to. I’ve learned to dial out through phone and fax,

To restock linens, band-aids, and lancets, To look for names and numbers, search and glean, The system built by phones and fax machines.

But, oh! How beautiful the spirit is When faced with what life places in its path Dear student, I have seen that very spark

In mother’s eyes, though tired they may be,

In mother’s eyes, though tired they may be, In words of comfort given and received

In mother’s eyes, though tired they may be, In words of comfort given and received, In hands that hold and help and harden not

In mother’s eyes, though tired they may be, In words of comfort given and received, In hands that hold and help and harden not The hearts when fronted with another’s pain

In mother’s eyes, though tired they may be, In words of comfort given and received, In hands that hold and help and harden not The hearts when fronted with another’s pain In those who come, and in those who remain,

They, all the same, have shown me how to see Dear student, yes, there’s worth---it has found me
