Step by step I descended the stairs. The walls of flames almost licking my skin.
Calm, while the house I had lived in for sixteen years was falling apart around me. I felt nothing.
During My descent and escape I could hear the screams from my family.
When I got outside I looked toward the windows where my mother was slamming her hands in a futile attempt to escape.
Then, I saw my father looking out from his study quietly sobbing. I didn't see my sister anywhere, she was probably the one I heard screaming as I left.
The rain was attempting to douse the blaze, but it was fruitless.
I was at peace. I find peace in the rain.
