POEM #2

REMAINS

by writeisescape

I SEE THE CROWS AROUND ME THOUGH I AM CHAINED TO THIS CAVE

A PRISONER, YET I FEEL LIKE A BIRD

I SEE THE VALLEYS BELOW ME, I SEE MY GHOST FLY HIGH

AND NOW I SEE, THAT MY ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT HAS LEFT ME

NOW I AM DIFFERENT YET I FEEL MY SHADOW CREEP UP AGAIN

I WILL NOT LET THIS FEAR CONTROL ME I WILL NOT LET HIM IN

A CHILD SUDDENLY FALLS BESIDE ME A CHILD ADORNED

IN CHESTNUT CURLS.

SHE LAUGHS AND SMILES, YET LEAVING ME. SHE WAS GLOWING

WITH LIGHT AND AN EMPTINESS WAS LEFT.

NOW THE SUN IS GONE, LEAVING ME IN THE COLD AIR

I FEEL THE GIRL NEAR ME, I FEEL HER DESPAIR

YET SHE SMILES AT ME, A GHOSTLY GRIN.

I SEE THAT SHE WILL NEVER LEAVE ME.

IT IS WHAT'S MEANT TO BE.

HERE I AM AGAINST THE MIRROR, MY REFLECTION LONG GONE

FOR THERE IS NOTHING LOOKING BACK AT ME, NOT EVEN MY BONE.
