Lobby Dialogue

by whoneedsaname

The door was open But no-one was there

Only faint anticipation To swallow despair

Though you looked for hope You didn't find it

The darkness around you Having left you quite blinded

You saw in the mirror What you wanted to see

And with a desperate hopelessness I wished it were me

You found joy then As soon as you lost it

But time's eaten up All the hope you once fostered

You considered defeat But it didn't feel right

Just like you Your memories fight

They fight for remembrance Though you strive to forget

But they're stronger than you So you can't let go yet

What you want You're not quite sure

You can't spend eternity in the world of before. Yet you need something

Just a moment, or else

You don't know how you will live with yourself.

This is beautifully written! I loved it--especially the ending: it was a powerful end to your poem. This is amazing.
