This is a long text I sent to a friend at 1 in the morning.

The Invisible Reason

As they stared into the mirror, none of that fondness remained. What was left was only a shell, wrought by a violent anagapesis that broke their mind and shattered their soul.

Even when they know it's bad to keep it to themselves, even when they don't know the reason why, they choose to silently endure.

Sometimes, they'll be sitting next to someone they trust and they will feel so alone that they almost say it. Their mouth opens, but nothing comes out.

Long texts are deleted and insignificant words are sent instead. Sentences are formed but never spoken. Courage is built up and shattered within the span of a breath.

They watch themselves change but no one else notices. They are like an iceberg; everything beneath the surface is shifting, but only the unaltered tip is exposed.

Whenever they can, they try to imagine what it was like before. But their mind is a valley filled with fog, and they cannot remember it clearly.

It suddenly becomes apparent that life is just an endlessly dark tunnel. There is no light at the end, only sparse patches scattered throughout with just enough space in between to keep them going.

But each patch is

But each patch is farther than the last

But each patch is farther than the last smaller than the last

But each patch is farther than the last smaller than the last more fleeting than the last.

They begin to wonder if those moments of bliss are even worth the struggle. They toil away and for what?

They begin to wonder if those moments of bliss are even worth the struggle. They toil away and for what? A second or two of feeling like it's all okay?

What's the point?

They're blocking the train anyways.

They're blocking the train anyways. They might as well get out of the way.
