As a child, I was nightly lulled to sleep by the distant bellowing of the local train. There was something about that sound that always comforted me.
Perhaps it was the idea of this mysterious but non-threatening presence looming in the vicinity; it was predictable, reliable,
a phenomenon that I could depend on to remain steady with me regardless of the many revolutions and vacillations brought about by early childhood.
I viewed God in much the same way at the time, and rested my thoughts upon these two mighty beings as they ushered me into the pleasant depths of innocent slumber.
