benefit of the doubt

by valerie

• In that moment,

I realized why I'd always seen the good in people.

In that moment,

I felt like Atlas with broken knees.

I'd felt the pinnacle of pain, reached the threshold of sanity.

Endured the ongoing struggle of putting the pieces together.

I was to hold the weight that

the world pinned on my back.

In that moment,

my body was present on Earth but my spirit,

my spirit destroyed.

I'd chosen to see the good in people thinking the same would be seen in me.

It was in that moment that I realized,

I was my only audience. •

This was beautifully written. The sheer honesty of your introspection demands respect from me as well as my appreciation. You have discovered a kernel of wisdom and wrote it down. Great post!!!!
