Late night poem

Self medication

You play with watercolors

taint your own tears

bright hues

that don't belong in your body

So you transfer them to paper

People see a girl with red eyes

A little too much perfume

To cover the scent

of self-medication

her blood drip warms

from her slashed wrist

she has mistaken her own body

for her demons

I see a girl who numbs the darkness

can't see without a flashlight

need some more energy

She exhales smoke because

for that split second

Depression exits her body
