Classroom Reflections 1

by Tsam

I've never really thought about death when it comes to young people. Sure, I know that death is a part of life, but there's always been something saying it only happens when you get older.

Cut to the day I found out one of the 8y/o girls in my class lost her mum over the weekend. Suddenly, I don't feel like a teacher anymore, I feel like a relative who's going to help her through.

I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't know what to say to her or how to respond. All I know is that, in a split second, everything has changed for her, and I can't let her go through this alone.
