You find some place to call home-
Maybe not a place, but someone.
You settle in, you settle down
You seem to think
it'll be different somehow.
You look at your state
Caged, but free from yourself.
And for a moment you're home.
For a moment, there was only a storm
And no consequence.
For a moment you're as lost as one could be
And for a moment-
You can be without the pain of what was.
And after a while it comes
Like a staggering great wave-
Like a riot, like a rave.
It comes, it comes,
And pulls you apart once again.
And so you tear it all apart
Feeling nothing in your heart-
burn down your home
You wonder and roam,
In search of some place,
and oh such a sickening surprise-
and you whisper as you writhe
In this labyrinth you carved for yourself,
"It's happening now and it's always been like this."
