Jimin sat in the living room with his phone on his lap. He had decided to wear a black button down shirt with red pants.
This shirt stood out to Jimin because it was splattered with red hearts. As he waited for Jungkook, Jimin stood up and walked to the nearest mirror.
His hands ran through his hair as he tried to figure out what to do with it.
Would he part it in the middle? Would he part it on the side? Would he slick it back? Jimin wasn’t sure what he wanted to do.
Suddenly, there was a loud knock at the door and a giggle that followed. “Jimin!” Jungkook laughed. As soon as Jungkook opened his mouth, Jimin ran toward the door and swung it open.
Jungkook and Jimin embraced one another as Jungkook swung Jimin. They didn’t know why, but they were both giggling by the time Jungkook put Jimin down.
“Come in,” Jimin smiled as he waved his hand. Immediately, Jungkook followed Jimin in and sat down on the couch.
“It’s been so long since we hung out,” Jungkook chirped as he revealed his dimples.
“I was afraid that Taehyung snatched you for the night,” Jimin grinned as he continued to play with his hair. “Sadly, Taehyung had something to do tonight,” Jungkook sighed.
“At least we have each other,” Jimin stated as he sat down next to Jungkook. “How about Hoseok?” Jungkook questioned as he tilted his head.
Jimin’s heart began to beat rapidly the moment he heard Hoseok’s name. Jungkook was supposed to help distract Jimin from the pain, not remind him of it.
“Um, he was busy too,” Jimin sputtered as he stared at his hands. “If he knew we were hanging out he’d probably get jealous again,” Jungkook chuckled.
The memory of Hoseok storming out of the house because of Jungkook came rushing back. The sorrow he felt was immeasurable. He really thought that he would lose Hoseok that day.
In order to change the subject, Jimin pulled Jungkook up and walked to the mirror. “What should I do with my hair?” Jimin asked as he placed Jungkook’s hands on his head.
Jungkook scrunched his nose as he styled Jimin’s hair. He never realized how soft and fluffy Jimin’s locks were. It felt like clouds running through his fingertips.
Each strand melted through his fingers as he made sure they were in place. “There,” Jungkook sang as he turned Jimin towards the mirror.
Jungkook had combed Jimin’s hair down so that it covered his forehead. This gave him an innocent look that made it look like a halo was over his head.
“You look nice with your hair down,” Jungkook giggled as he squished Jimin’s cheeks. Jimin eyed himself once more in the mirror to make sure he looked presentable.
“Let’s go,” Jimin smiled as he pulled Jungkook out of the house.
They walked down the street towards the plaza located at the heart of the town. It had been a while since either of them ate at the plaza.
However, they had no idea what they would be dining on. There were so many delicious options to choose from.
Jimin and Jungkook had decided to choose once they arrived at the actual destination. Whatever smell intrigued them first would determine their lunch reservations.
“Are you nervous for the competition?” Jungkook suddenly asked. Of course, Jimin was nervous. To be completely transparent, Jimin was terrified.
Friday was such an important day for both Jimin and Hoseok. They would show everyone that they weren’t to be messed with. Chanwoo would rue the day that he kicked Hoseok out of the studio.
Everything had to be perfect. Everything was on the line. Everything relied on Jimin. “Not really,” Jimin chuckled as his eyes turned into crescents.
“Taehyung and I are going to go watch your performance,” Jungkook revealed. “You don’t have to do that,” Jimin nervously chuckled. Suddenly, Jungkook stopped walking and grabbed Jimin’s arm.
Jungkook’s eyebrows were knitted together and his doe like eyes doubled in size.
“We want to see you! You’re my friend and I want to support you! So, please, do your best, hyung,” Jungkook stated as his gaze froze Jimin.
Jimin was touched that his dearest friend wanted to support him.
He was so focused on solving everything by himself that he had forgotten he was surrounded by people who were willing to help him. All he had to do was ask.
However, that was easier said than done. It wasn’t that Jimin had a big ego and didn’t want to ask for help. It was that hee was ashamed to ask for help.
People were relying on him and expected him to get the job done. If he asked for help it was like he was admitting that he couldn’t handle it. That was the last thing he wanted to do.
“I’ll do my best,” Jimin smiled as they continued walking down the sidewalk. Jungkook blinded Jimin with his bunny smile as he quietly giggled.
He was happy that his kind words made Jimin smile. His whole purpose was to make sure that everyone he loved was happy.
The moment Jungkook received the message from Jimin asking to hang out, he jumped around the room and smile as he clutched his phone.
Jimin was always so busy practicing and Jungkook didn’t want to distract him. He missed hanging out with his beloved hyung.
Finally, the pair had reached their destination. Immediately, the mouthwatering smell of food danced in their noses.
They smelled ramen, japchae, sushi, korean barbecue, bulgogi, bibimbap, and many other delicious meals There was no way that they would be able to easily choose somewhere to eat.
The pair stood in front of the magnificent water fountain and took in the savory smells. Jungkook and Jimin both stared at each other suddenly and smiled brightly.
This was the place they first met. This was the place they always returned to. This was their very own special spot.
Jimin remembered seeing little Jungkook sitting by the fountain all alone. Tears were running down his face, but he wasn’t making a sound.
His tears filled the water fountain as families ignored him and walked by. He eyed the crying boy as he held two ice creams in his hands.
The boy looked a little younger than him, and this made Jimin’s heart ache. “Are you okay?” Jimin asked the little boy as he knelt down.
Immediately, Jungkook wiped his tears away and nodded his head.
“Where are your parents?” Jimin asked as he sat down next to the boy. Jungkook shrugged and continued to look at the ground. He couldn’t leave him alone, not like this.
Jimin extended one of the ice cream cones towards Jungkook and smiled. Jungkook’s face lit up as he saw the cone. “Here,” Jimin smiled.
“Thank you,” Jungkook giggled as he grabbed the ice cream. The beautiful sound of the boy’s laughter made Jimin’s eyes sparkle. He had always longed for a brother.
He had always longed for someone to look up to him. This was his chance.
Jimin waited with the boy until one of his parents came back for him. They had spent their time together laughing and smiling as Jimin tried to brighten his spirits.
Jungkook was the happiest when he was with Jimin. Ever since that day, Jungkook would come back to the fountain and wait for the hyung that gave him ice cream. It became a tradition.
After school, Jimin would come to the fountain and buy Jungkook an ice cream while they hung out. As they grew older, their friendship blossomed into something beautiful.
They were inseparable. It was Jimin and Jungkook against the world. Jungkook was so happy that Jimin was the one that found him at the fountain.
“What do you want to eat?” Jimin asked as he swayed back and forth on his heels. “How about sushi?” Jungkook suggested. Jimin scrunched his face to show his obvious disapproval.
“I was thinking ramen,” Jimin revealed. This was a problem. They began to glare at one another as the wind blew around the pair. These two wouldn’t give in no matter what.
No one said a word as people continued to walk around them.
“Rock, paper, scissors,” Jungkook yelled as he pounded his fist into the palm of his hand. Once Jimin saw Jungkook’s mouth open, he also began to pound his fist.
They revealed their choice and their destiny was sealed. There was no going back now. “Brat,” Jungkook sighed as he dropped his clenched fist.
Jimin was jumping in the air with his winning hand extended to the heavens. His open palm was an indicator of his victory.
“I can already taste the ramen,” Jimin gloated as he rubbed his stomach. Jungkook pouted as they began to walk to a small ramen restaurant located at the end of the row of the plaza.
