Once Jungkook and Jimin walked in, they were surprised by all the strange new faces. Many families and friends were dining at RaMang.
There was a cacophony of voices echoing throughout the restaurant. Parents ate as their children played with the utensils.
A group of women were enamored by the baby laughing at the table across from them. Everything was happening at once. Nothing could stop it.
It wasn’t usually this packed in the afternoon, but it was a Sunday after all. “How may I help you?” the hostess smiled.
“May we have a table for two?” Jungkook questioned as the hostess began to grab two menus. She hesitated for moment as she eyed Jungkook. Her smile doubled in size as she nodded her head.
“Right this way,” the hostess chirped as she led the pair towards their table. Jimin noticed the families sitting on the couch glaring at them as they followed the hostess.
“We’ve been waiting here for ten minutes,” a man grumbled to his wife as his kids played on their phones.
He began to feel bad as they were led towards a table at the end of the restaurant. Their table was pushed up against the wall where a magnificent painting of a sakura tree was hanging.
Located on top of the table were two napkins that matched the color of the sakura tree. The pair were impressed by how the napkins were folded in order to mimic a crane.
They sat down on their light oak chairs as the hostess placed their menus down. Immediately, Jungkook grabbed the crane napkin and began to pretend it was flying.
His childish display received giggles from Jimin and the hostess. Suddenly, the hostess shook her head as she eyed the table.
“I’ll be right back,” the hostess murmured as she scurried towards a door that read “Employees Only.” Jungkook and Jimin stared at each other with scrunched faces.
“I wonder when she’ll be back,” Jimin stated as he fixed his collar. Almost as if she had heard him, the hostess came back holding a vase.
She placed the small circular vase in the center of the pair’s table. Jimin’s eyes widened as he eyed the beautiful flowers.
The white lilies of the valley paired beautifully with the pink forget-me-nots. Jimin looked around the restaurant and noticed each table had a vase as well.
“Sorry, the waiter must have forgotten to put the vase back,” the hostess stated. Jungkook’s doe eyes sparkled as his dimples played peekaboo.
“Are they real?” Jungkook asked as he turned towards the waitress. Once Jungkook’s gaze landed on her, the hostess’s cheeks began to match the flowers.
“Y-Yes,” the waitress stammered as she fiddled with her fingers. “When they’re clumped together they look like cherry blossoms,” Jimin chirped as he gently felt the flower’s petals.
The hostess couldn’t handle the brightness of the two men. Her heart began to flutter as she watched Jimin bend down and smell the flowers. One more second here and she would explode.
“Your waiter will be with you shortly,” she sputtered as she practically ran back to the front of the restaurant. Jimin and Jungkook watched her run away until she was out of sight.
“You’re so shameless,” Jungkook chuckled as he began to look through the menu. “W-What? I didn’t do anything!” Jimin sputtered as he snatched the menu away from Jungkook.
“Don’t act like you didn’t know what you were doing,” Jungkook smirked as he rested his chin in his hands. “I just wanted to smell the flowers,” Jimin pouted.
Jungkook pretended to rip open his shirt as he eyed Jimin. Slowly, Jungkook bent down and smelled the flowers as he continued to stare at Jimin. “I didn’t do that!” Jimin growled.
“Hoseok must have to beat people off of you,” Jungkook giggled as he grabbed his menu back from Jimin.
“Excuse me? I’m the one that has to beat people away from Hoseok!” Jimin revealed as he glared at Jungkook. “Poor Jiminie,” Jungkook sneered.
“Poor Jiminie,” Jimin mimicked in a high pitch voice. The pair began to stick their tongues out towards each other. Suddenly, their waiter stopped in front of their table.
Immediately, they stuck their tongues back into their mouths as they faced the young man. “Welcome to RaMang! I will be your waiter this afternoon.
"Can I start you guys off with something to drink?” the waiter questioned as he flipped his notepad open. “I’ll take a water,” Jimin stated.
“Can I have a strawberry smoothie?” Jungkook questioned as he stared at the young man with his blinding smile.
“Coming right up,” the waiter smiled as he closed his notepad and began to walk back towards the kitchen. “You’re always ordering such sweet drinks,” Jimin giggled.
“If they had milkshakes I would’ve gotten one,” Jungkook smiled. They began to look through the menu to figure out what they would order to eat.
Jimin noticed that he hadn’t placed his napkin on his lap yet. He grabbed the crane and began to unfold it. “Hyung! What’re you doing?” Jungkook gasped as he watched Jimin.
“Unfolding the napkin,” Jimin replied as he placed the napkin on his thighs. “You killed him,” Jungkook muttered as he eyed Jimin in disdain.
“You’re going to have to do it too,” Jimin reminded Jungkook. Suddenly, Jungkook began to frown as he eyed his own crane. “What’re you going to order?” Jimin questioned.
Jungkook tapped his finger against his lips as he continued to read the menu. He would occasionally glance up at Jimin and motion for him to wait. This went on for what seemed like hours.
However, Jimin didn’t mind. The faces Jungkook created as he read the menu humored him. It was almost as if Jungkook really was a little kid.
As he patiently waited for Jungkook to decide, Jimin pulled out his phone and checked his notifications. He began to frown as he scrolled through his notifications. Hoseok hadn’t texted him.
Jimin didn’t know why, but he expected Hoseok to send him some sort of message.
Whether it was an angry message or even a meme, he just wanted Hoseok to let him know that he was still thinking about him. His finger hovered over Hoseok’s contact.
Maybe Jimin would have to be the first one to message him. However, he didn’t know what to say.
Would he be able to just ignore their awkward departure? Would he have to apologize? Would he even get a reply?
All these thoughts ran through Jimin’s head as Jungkook continued to look at the menu. Suddenly, he remembered that Jungkook was sitting across the table.
Maybe he should just ask Jungkook for help. He was Jimin’s beloved friend and would always be there for him.
Jimin took a deep breath in and prepared to explain everything to Jungkook. “Jungkook,” Jimin called out as he placed his phone down.
Jungkook lowered his menu and stared at Jungkook with his shimmering eyes. “Can I ask you for advice?” Jimin questioned as he nervously tapped the table.
Immediately, Jungkook dropped his menu down and arched his eyebrows as he gave Jimin his full attention. “Of course, hyung,” Jungkook assured Jimin.
Jimin pressed his lips together as he decided where to begin.
Once he was ready, Jimin began, “Well, I feel like things between Hoseok and I are becoming strained. While he was walking me home his expression held so much despair as he stared at his old dance studio. Seeing him like that made my heart ache. Immediately, I tried to com-”
“Wait, is that Hoseok?” Jungkook interrupted. Jimin turned his head around and followed Jungkook’s gaze. However, he didn't see Hoseok anywhere.
“I don’t see him,” Jimin stated as he turned back around towards Jungkook. “The lady is covering him. Just wait,” Jungkook assured Jimin as he continued to stare at the front of the restaurant.
Following Jungkook’s command, Jimin turned back around and stared towards the hostess’s station.
He was sure that Jungkook was mistaken. He hoped that Jungkook was mistaken. He wanted Jungkook to be mistaken. Suddenly, the hostess pointed towards the left of her and told the customer something.
The hostess giggled as she waved goodbye to the man. Jimin’s heart dropped as he watched Hoseok walk down a row of tables. It was definitely Hoseok. His blinding yellow hoodie made it impossible to miss him.
Everyone’s eyes followed Hoseok as he drifted towards an unknown destination. Jimin frowned as he watched Hoseok’s hair bounce as his smile enthralled the diners.
Jimin’s eyes began to dart around to figure out possibly who he could be meeting. No one stood out which made it even harder for Jimin. Maybe Hoseok was just meeting with his family.
There were many families here after all. Suddenly, Jimin’s eyes landed on a woman sitting alone at a table for two. Her chestnut hair swept her shoulders as her eyes stuck to her phone.
She looked up and her eyes landed right on Hoseok. Hoseok’s stunning appearance transfixed her and made her jaw drop. Immediately, she began to fix the collar on her white button down shirt.
As Hoseok got closer, she brushed her pink skirt off and ran her fingers through her hair. Was it possible that Hoseok was having lunch with her? There was no denying it, she was very pretty.
Her pouty lips and puffy eyes paired perfectly with her button nose. Not only that, but her skin was fair, which emphasized her pink cheeks.
Jimin felt a lump form in his throat as he watched Hoseok walk closer and closer toward the woman’s table. He glanced at Jungkook and saw that he was watching Hoseok as well.
Jungkook’s eyebrows were knitted together and the once innocent expression he wore was gone.
Finally, Hoseok was five steps away from the woman. She continued to stare at him, almost hoping his eyes would land her way.
Jimin’s heart clenched as he waited for Hoseok to embrace the woman. Suddenly, all of his fear and sadness were gone. If this was really happening, Jimin wasn’t surprised.
Of course something like this would happen. The once happy couple were losing all their color. His frown disappeared as he watched Hoseok’s smile double in size.
All he wanted was for Hoseok to be happy.
