The sound of children laughing echoed through the halls as Jimin made his way back to his hospital room. Bright rays of sunlight stained the floors.
A smile enveloped Jimin’s gleaming face as he rounded the corner of the hallway. Everything was falling into place.
It would come off as insouciant to say that this event was needed, but in some way it really was. This event finally made Jimin realize that he DESERVED love.
All this time he was receiving the love, but he never felt it. Now he knew and now he would do things differently.
His whole body was consumed with a warm sensation that he only felt when Hoseok’s arms were wrapped around him.
The nurse who had weighed and measured him ran in front of Jimin and pushed the door to his room open. Jimin thanked the man as his eyes turned into beautiful crescents.
As he entered the room, Jimin heard a familiar giggling along with a new deep laugh. His eyes widened as he scanned the room. Suddenly, his eyes locked with his beloved best friend.
The pair squealed as they began to run toward one another. However, the nurse quickly grabbed Jimin’s shoulders, quickly stopping him in his tracks.
Confused, Jimin turned his head to the side and stared at the nurse with puffy, pleading eyes. A small frown appeared on the nurse’s lips.
“You can’t run, Jimin,” the nurse stated as he gently patted Jimin’s frail shoulders. Jimin pouted his lips as he turned back around and stared at the frowning Jungkook.
Jungkook hated seeing his friend this way. The light radiated from the ceiling made Jimin look a sickly gray color and his cheekbones were protruding from his once plump cheeks.
Suddenly, Jungkook was brought back to the day before. He had seen that Jimin’s fridge was empty. There was no food inside whatsoever.
However, Jungkook had just ASSUMED that Jimin would eat the noodles he left. A new feeling of guilt coated Jungkook. “I should have done something,” Jungkook thought to himself.
Jimin trudged over to Jungkook with a small frown on his face. This broke Jungkook’s heart as he saw the slight limp that Jimin had.
Immediately, Jungkook jumped toward Jimin and held Jimin’s face in his hands. “Are you okay?” Jungkook questioned as he began to squeezed Jimin’s cheeks.
Without hesitation, Jimin nodded his head as his pout turned into a beaming smile.
Jungkook wrapped his arms around Jimin and hugged him tightly. The pair giggled as they were intertwined. Jimin was glad that Jungkook had showed up.
If he was being honest, Jimin was a little dejected when he didn’t see Jungkook in the hospital room when he had awaken.
However, he did take into account that Jungkook had no idea where he was. He didn’t expect to see Jungkook here today. This had made his cheeks fill with a sweet shade of pink.
“I still need to say hi!” Taehyung whined as he stood up from his seat.
“You can be honest and just admit that you’re jealous,” Jungkook smirked.
Jungkook squeezed Jimin one last time before he pulled away. He waddled back as Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jimin.
“Jimin, I’m so glad that you’re okay,” Taehyung smiled as Jimin hugged him back. Jimin heard and felt the concern that poured from Taehyung.
To be quite frank, Taehyung and Jimin weren’t that close. The only connection they had was through Jungkook. However, this didn’t stop Taehyung from worrying about Jimin.
Once Taehyung let go of Jimin, Jimin brightened the room with his beautiful smile. All of his nearest and dearest friends were staring right back at him.
Slowly, each one of them began to sport a gleaming smile. Then his eyes landed on Hoseok. His one and only Hoseok. He stared right back at Jimin and Jimin melted.
The endearment, the concern, the fondness, the tenderness, the LOVE that Hoseok held in his gaze made Jimin want to run over to Hoseok and melt into his arms.
Suddenly, Dr.Moon knocked on the frame of the door. One by one, each of the men in the room turned over and saw the doctor holding a thick folder in her hands.
“May I come in?” Dr.Moon questioned as she held the folder to her chest. Jimin nodded, indicating for her to join the group. Immediately, Dr.Moon entered the room and stood in front of Jimin’s hospital bed.
“You’re going to want to sit down, Mr.Park,” Dr.Moon advised.
All of the men stared at Dr.Moon with confused and worried expressions as soon as those words left her mouth. Their eyes darted between Dr.Moon and the folder.
Dr.Moon’s eyes widened as she noticed the men’s gaze.
“I didn’t mean it like that! It’s just that Jimin should be resting his body,” Dr.Moon quickly assured the men.
It seemed as if everyone, including the nurse, sighed in relief as Jimin began to climb onto the hospital bed.
As Jimin pulled the covers over his legs, the six other men sat themselves in the chairs scattered around the room.
Hoseok was seated to the left of Jimin’s bed and Jin was directly next to Hoseok. Namjoon’s and Yoongi’s chairs were placed to the right of Jimin’s bed. There was only one seat.
Jungkook and Taehyung stared at each other as both of their hands were wrapped around the arms of the chair.
Sensing a fight about to commence, Hoseok shot up from his chair and walked toward the couple.
“One of you can use my chair,” Hoseok stated as he pushed himself in between Jungkook and Taehyung.
“I brought another chair,” the nurse announced as he reentered the room with a chair in his hands.
“Oh, thank you!” Taehyung and Jungkook smiled as they stared at the nurse then at Hoseok.
Hoseok chuckled as he walked back to his chair and watched the boys push their seats next to each other. Once everyone was seated, Dr.Moon placed her glasses on and opened the chunky folder.
After skimming through all the pages, she flipped back to the first page and cleared her throat.
“Mr.Park, in this folder is a dietary plan that you must follow religiously. You need to eat at least five fruits or vegetables a day. Your starch, dairy, protein, and iron intake will increase. I know you must have a million questions about what exactly I want you to eat. However, you don’t have to worry because I’m giving you this folder to take home.~
~If you have any questions please call me. I’ve included my business card. Also, this folder contains rules you must follow. It’s basically a big list of what NOT to do. An example of one of these rules is that you won’t be able to follow your exercise regime anymore. You HAVE to rest, Mr.Park. ~
~This means that I want you to avoid physical labor as much as you can. I go more into depth in the actual paper,” Dr.Moon stated as she occasionally glanced up at Jimin.
Jimin listened very carefully to each and every one of Dr.Moon’s words. However, he still had one question that NEEDED to be answered.
He fought with himself as he tried to decide whether to ask her now or call her later. As he listened to her explanation, his heart slowly faltered as she explained his physical restrictions.
“I included the chart of your BMI. Also, you must visit the hospital once a week until I clear you. You don’t have to worry about making appointments since I already made them for you. I wrote down the dates and times. One last thing, I recommend that you stay with a friend or that one of your friends stay with you.~
~It would be better if you had some sort of support system there with you to help you and guide you. This doesn’t have to be permanent, but I would recommend it for the first week,” the doctor added.
As soon as those words left her mouth, the six men stared right at Hoseok. His cheeks began to spark with color as he felt their gaze upon him.
Hoseok would have made sure that he was the one taking care of Jimin, but seeing all of his friends and Jimin place the responsibility on him made him feel ecstatic.
“Don’t worry, Jimin. I’ll stay with you and take care of you,” Hoseok beamed as he intertwined his fingers with Jimin’s.
Jimin’s face lit up as he was blinded by Hoseok’s glowing smile. Hoseok rested his head against Jimin’s chest as Dr.Moon made sure everything was included in the folder she carried.
His eyes turned to crescents as he bent down and kissed Hoseok’s forehead. “I love you,” Jimin whispered as Hoseok began to shyly giggle.
“Any questions?” Dr.Moon suddenly asked as she closed the bulky folder.
“I have a question,” Jimin meekly murmured.
Suddenly, everyone’s eyes were on him. Their eyebrows were slightly curved as their eyes widened. Dr.Moon nodded her head in order to let Jimin know that it was okay to ask his question.
Jimin took a shaky breath in as he mustered up all his courage.
“I have a competition on Friday. Would I be able to perform?” Jimin questioned.
With each word that left Jimin’s mouth, Hoseok’s grasp tightened around Jimin’s hand. Hoseok was nervous to find out what the doctor had to say.
His nervousness wasn’t caused by his fear of not performing, but it came from his fear of how Jimin would react to the news. He had already put the pieces together as Dr.Moon explained Jimin’s new lifestyle.
All that he was worried about was how Jimin would take it.
Dr.Moon’s frown deepened as she stared at the curious Jimin. She sighed as she hugged the folder in her hands.
“I’m going to be very blunt with you. No, you won’t be able to perform. It’s going to take a while for you to recover, Mr.Park. To be quite frank, you probably won’t see any progress till the third week,” Dr.Moon informed Jimin.
Jimin immediately dropped his gaze as he slowly nodded his head. He already knew the looks that everyone would be giving him.
Everyone was probably frowning and looking pained as they stared at Jimin. Of course he knew they cared, but he couldn’t bare to see their faces right now.
If his eyes laid upon them then the tears would devour him.
“Once that IV drip empties, you’re free to go. I’d say it’ll empty in about ten minutes,” Dr.Moon stated as she tried to smile.
Jimin nodded as he laid down on his bed and pulled the covers over his head.
