Oh, Harvest Moon, I wait for you (I have, since noon) to fully rise.
Light up the sky, irradiate, Up there so high among the dark.
White sphere so bright, you hold my gaze, But appetite, it turns my head.
Oh, lovely cake, held in my hand, A bite I take, a moon revealed.
after[word]: Let me get this straight- I dislike the egg yolk(s) in moon cakes. Am I the only one? The moon is pretty, but the cake usually has most of my attention.
What are moon cakes? Little cakes filled with a rich thick filling usually made from red bean or lotus seed paste along with yolks from salted duck eggs. They are eaten with tea to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. (If you want more info, go to Wikipedia . . .)
Also, I'll be away for a bit. For once, I'm stepping out into the heat. Wish me luck . . .
