You told me You were mourning the loss of us.

Burial

You told me

You were mourning the loss of us.

But did you know

I was standing graveside for months

Rose clasped in hands praying for rejuvenation

As thorns bit mercilessly

Refusing to let the casket lower

For fear I'd cast myself upon it

To be buried with that which makes my still heart beat.
