This short story drama is a continuation of the short story Rendell. This story is about a college teen's first date with Rendell. Is it too good to be true?

First Date

It's around 3 in the afternoon when I woke up. I looked over at my desk and saw the purple envelope from Rendell.

When I got out of bed, I opened it and read it a third time; I guess I should text him and at least say thank you. I took out my phone and sent him a text, "I hope your game went well.

Thank you for the card. I am off today and tomorrow. What does your schedule look like?" I took a deep breath and pressed send. An hour passed, and I hadn't received a response.

Did I take too long to reach out to him? I went to the kitchen to make a sandwich for lunch. While I was spreading the mayonnaise on the bread, I heard my phone ring.

I dropped the piece of bread on the plate and ran to my bedroom; it was Rendell.

I cleared my throat and answered, "Hello?" I was feeling giddy on the phone with him but tried to keep my voice calm.

He answered, "I am so glad to hear from you! What are you doing tonight? I would love to take you out to dinner; we can go to Katana or Catch.

Honestly, we can go anywhere your heart desires, just name a time and a place. If you feel comfortable, I can stop by and pick you up from your house, so you don't have to drive.

Sorry, I know I'm talking a lot. You make me nervous." I could feel him blushing through the phone; I was blushing too, "I've never been to Katana or Catch, I just moved out here.

I can be ready for dinner by 8:00.

If you don't mind, can you pick me up from the University dorms?" I heard the excitement in his voice, "It's a date! I will see you at 8:00, just send me the address, and I will be there."

Christina walked in, smiling, and I knew she overheard our conversation.

When I hung up, Christina said, "Yay! It sounds like you have a date tonight! Who is he? How'd you meet him?

Give me all the details!" I tried to downplay the situation, "It's just a guy that I met at work; he wants to take me out to dinner tonight. He is going to pick me up at 8:00.

" Giddy, she said, "What are you going to wear?! You should wear that sparkly blue dress or the black one that hugs your figure, something sexy!"

I laughed, "I have a few hours to figure out what I'm going to wear and to get ready." I started pulling out clothes from my closet and trying them on.

My other roommate, Lisa, saw the clothes on my bed. With a smile, she said, "Ooo, does somebody have a date tonight?" I chuckled, "Yes, I have a date tonight.

What do you think of these outfits? I've narrowed it down to three: the tan suede pantsuit, the gold skirt with a pink blouse, or the black bandage dress?

" I put each outfit in front of me, hoping she could help me decide. Christina walked in, "The black one! With your red heels, sexy!" Lisa shook her head in agreement, "The black one it is!"

It's 7:55 PM when I got a text from Rendell, "I am at the gate, but they won't let me in because I'm not a student here." I forgot that I needed to have a guest pass for visitors after 6:00 PM.

Luckily, building #9 was only a 3-minute walk down the hillside to the front gate. I put on my heels, checked my teeth for lipstick, and said goodbye to my roommates.

A few minutes later, I saw Rendell's freshly washed blue Hummer and started getting butterflies. You've got this. It's just a date, a first date.

I was a few steps from the car when Rendell hopped out of the driver's seat and ran to open my door and help me into his black leather, blue pinstripe seats.

He jumped back into the seat, "Wow, I'm a lucky guy tonight.

You look stunning!" He turned the stereo to an R&B station and put his right hand over my left hand while he sang along to the song, "All My Life" by K-Ci and Jo Jo. He is such a babe.

We pulled into valet parking at Katana, and the attendant opened my door to let me out of the truck.

While we were walking, he reached for my hand, "Is it ok if I hold your hand, beautiful?" I laced my fingers between his.

We walked up to the hostess, and his deep voice boomed, "Reservations for Rendell Williams." At that moment, I realized how much I enjoyed listening to him speak. Hmm, Mrs. Williams.

I like the sound of that. We followed the hostess to our table, and he pulled out my chair.

The waitress gave her spiel about today's specials while she handed us the menus; she said, "Enjoy your meal, your waiter will be with you momentarily.

" Rendell revealed that he had been to Katana a few times and had a few recommendations. He shared his favorites and asked me what looked appealing to me; he is such a gentleman.

We decided to order an appetizer and share two entrees. After we ordered a sushi roll, I asked for the sea bass entree and he requested the miso salmon dish.

The food was orgasmic; I enjoyed and savored every bite as it hit the tip of my tongue and swirled around my mouth. I slipped and used a term of endearment, "Dinner was delightful, hon.

Thank you.

" Rendell gave me a warm smile and asked to hold my hand again, "Any room for dessert?" He saw the twinkle in my eye, "Let's share a dessert, you'll love it!" He ordered the cheesecake delight.

He was right, the dessert was delectable.

Dinner was over, but I didn't want to leave. We were having so much fun and great conversation. I was already physically attracted to him, and he was fulfilling me mentally and spiritually.

Could he be the one, or is he Mr. Right now? All I knew at that moment was that I wanted more from Rendell. He looked down at his watch, "The restaurant closes in 30 minutes.

Tonight has been memorable, and I honestly don't want it to end.

Do you want me to show you some of the city? It would be great to be able to spend a little more time with you this evening if it's ok with you.

" Inside I was jumping up and down like a kid at a candy store. With a smile, I calmly said, "Yes, I would like that."

We left the restaurant and started driving around Hollywood. He showed me his favorite restaurants, venues, shopping centers, and then somehow, we ended up at the ocean.

The view was astounding, I was awestruck by the beautiful sight. I had no idea how long we were driving, but the next minute I knew, the sun was rising over the ocean.

We had been out all night, and I enjoyed every moment; I didn't want it to end.

He pulled over to the side of the road so I could soak up the moment, "Wow! Rendell, this is so beautiful! Thank you for bringing me here.

" He grabbed my hand, "Thank you for coming out with me tonight; I am glad you are having as great of a time as I am." I turned to him, and I wanted to kiss him, but it's our first date.

Does that matter? Ugh. I hate all of these dating rules, they never make sense.

He put his hands on my cheeks and pulled me closer and kissed my forehead and said, "You are amazing, do you know that?" He had officially swooned me.

We drove home; when we pulled up to the dorm, and the gates were open. It was almost 7 in the morning.

We'd spent nearly half of the day together, and it was clear that we both still didn't want it to end. He drove me up to building #9, hopped out of the truck, and walked me to the door.

I joke, "Where are you from? Heaven?" He laughed, "Actually, I am from Alabama and moved here for college two years ago." I had found another southern gentleman.
