A look into my life; a contemplative study.

Note: This became really long, hence why I am breaking it into various parts.

GROW UP, Black Girl

Grow up Black girl, GROW UP, GROW UP

you're nine in the fifth grade, ten when the new season begins,

but you're small, you haven't grown up, you're lanky and thin

your breasts aren't big enough, any crush you have you know will never happen,

your breasts aren't big enough, any crush you have you know will never happen, GROW UP GROW UP,

you keep wondering when that'll happen.

You're too small, you've got no butt, but all the other girls look so grown up,

a guy you thought was kinda cool just played you like a fool, you weren't close or nothin' but his words really s t u n g ,

"you must have breast cancer, don't you, because your boobs are so s m a l l "

i mean, of course not, that's just dumb, but how would he know that a family member just lost their mom?

your great auntie died of breast cancer and many others before her, so you're s c a r e d Black girl,

you have fear, you think you'll d i e , but then you realize what an idiot, you're fine, screw that guy.

Grow up Black girl, GROW UP, GROW UP!

you're in middle school and school life is great, but it's still hard to open up

your dad's still with the woman you met when you were eight, you thought she'd be a mom

your dad's still with the woman you met when you were eight, you thought she'd be a mom but as it turns out.. she ain't.

she tried to change your looks, make you look more grown up, tried to stop your sports, make you more dolled up, but for what?

she permed your hair some time around then, made you think your original hair was a sin

she permed your hair some time around then, made you think your original hair was a sin and then it got so thin.

some f e l l out and it was even harder to work with,

but how come your friends' hair was always poppin'?

End of Part 2.
