Many of us feel isolated, and fear is a truly dangerous pandemic. But when doors are locked, hope walks through walls.

This poem is inspired by John 20:19.

When Doors are Locked

When Doors are Locked (a poem by ThisLittleLight)

When doors are locked and windows barred,

When doors are locked and windows barred, walk through the walls of our frightened hearts.

When we isolate from the foe outside

When we isolate from the foe outside but are faced with a fear that we cannot hide

When the locks weigh down on our hearts until

When the locks weigh down on our hearts until our safety becomes our prison cell -

Oh, walk through the walls, Resurrected One.

Oh, walk through the walls, Resurrected One. Tell us we are not alone.

Touch our shaking souls, draw near.

Touch our shaking souls, draw near. Tell us how you conquered fear.

For you walked alone through a mocking crowd

you walked with a cross weighing you down,

you walked unafraid to the hill of death,

you walked from the grave as your enemies fled.

Now, walk with us so our fear will flee.

Walk through our walls and set us free.

John 20:19 When the disciples were there together with the doors locked for fear... Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”
