Since I've already mentioned admiring people like George Carlin & Frank Zappa in other posts, I thought I might discuss other "heroes" of mine and/or others I admire for anyone who's interested.
Besides George Carlin, another favorite comedian of mine is the late Bill Hicks. Bill's comedy was like George's in a lot of ways in that it was non-PC. Sadly, Bill passed away in 1994.
Greg Gutfeld was a magazine editor before hosting shows on Fox (Non) News like Red Eye & the Greg Gutfeld Show. His "ideology" and/or "attitude" more closely resembles mine (at least for now!).
Although Sgt. Rock is a fictional character, he was more of a "hero" to me than Batman or Superman growing up. Unlike Batman or Superman, Rock fought REAL villains, i.e. the Nazis of WWII.
Before there was Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin as she was the first one to refuse to give up her seat. In fact, she reportedly "inspired" the NAACP to use Parks in their bus boycott.
EDWARD R. MURROW
Edward R. Murrow is the legendary newsman who famously took on corrupt commie-witch-hunter Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 50s when everyone else in the media were too chickenshit to do so.
Camille Paglia is a professor, social commentator & self-described "anti-feminist" feminist who first became known in the 90s which was when I first became aware of her. She's still around today.
Ron Jeremy is a former teacher turned "adult" film star. (Now THAT'S a career change!) Named "The Hedgehog" (for I think obvious reasons!), Ron's an "average" guy with not-so-average attributes!
Before Larry Flynt & Hustler, there was the late Al Goldstein & Screw. Like Flynt, Al was busted for "obscenity" many times. I mean, politically incorrect does NOT even begin to describe Al!
The inventor of indoor plumbing.
Before indoor plumbing, people use to throw their "business" literally out the window. This, as you can imagine, led to widespread disease & even death. And who can, of course, forget outhouses!
Mercedes Carrera was an aerospace engineer before becoming an "adult" film star. (Again, WHAT a career change!) Mercedes is also a commentator who, like me, also has a low "tolerance" for PC BS.
I wouldn't exactly say I "admire" Elvira or necessarily call her a "hero" of mine, but she does most definitely have huge, um, talent, so I figured why NOT include her on this list!
A few more words about my "heroes" list . . .
Some, of course, may question some-or many-of my choices for this list. Some might even call some of my choices "villains" instead of "heroes". I guess you can say I'm "versatile" that way!
You might've seen I didn't include politicians or athletes.
