With all the "all-female" reboots of classic films like Ghostbusters, I got to thinking of what "all-female" reboots they COULD be doing.
Then it hit me!
How about doing "all-female" reboots of classic horror films?
Admittedly there aren't many female killers in these films, though there have been exceptions.
There was the psychotic mom of Jason who was the killer in the first Friday the 13th film (and NOT Jason).
There was Tiffany the killer doll-and Chucky's girlfriend-in Bride Of Chucky.
And there was the creepy chick who crawled out the TV & scared the hell out of EVERYONE in The Ring.
And, of course, there's ALWAYS Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark! (Though she's NOT a killer, but what the hell!)
But, for the most part, it's the men who are doing the slicing & dicing in this flicks. (Sexism?)
But, really, if they're doing an "all-female" reboot of Lord Of The Flies (and, believe it or not, they are!), why NOT do said reboot of a horror flick (or two!)?
Like a Friday the 13th reboot with a killer named, say, Jane Voorhees.
Or how about a female Freddy Kreuger (sans the burnt skin, of course!)? Frieda Kreuger, perhaps?
Or a female Michael Myers from the Halloween flicks named Michelle or Mary Myers.
Or a female Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre named, well, Leatherface.
I could go on but you get the picture. (Picture-get it?)
So how about it, Hollywood? Again, why NOT make "all-female" reboots of classic horror films?
Or maybe-just maybe!-they can just come up with NEW movies instead of making all these damned reboots, female or otherwise.
Just a thought!
